Writer & Tech Reviewer

Ex-VC associate. Writes a Substack on tools that don't waste your time.

Dax spent six years in venture before walking out at forty. He now writes Tools That Don't Waste Your Time, a small newsletter with sharp opinions about wellness apps and what actually works. The AYA Method earned a recommendation from him on day eight, which is not nothing. Venture taught him pattern recognition and its limits: he sat through hundreds of pitches, watched the same wellness deck recycle for six years, and learned that the moat is never the features — it's whether the thing gets used on a bad day. That became the newsletter's whole editorial policy. He tests everything himself, on his actual life, with a bias toward products that ask for less: less setup, less identity, fewer notifications begging for a relationship. Most recommendations take him thirty days; the AYA Method got there in eight because it cleared his hardest filter early — he kept using it on the days he forgot he was testing it. His essays for Modern Manifest carry the same diligence energy: term-sheet skepticism applied to morning routines, unit economics applied to attention, and a standing rule that any practice claiming to change your life should first demonstrate it can survive your Tuesday. His recurring theme is time as the only honest currency — every tool is billing you in it, and the good ones leave change.

Writes about: app reviews, startup mindset, manifestation.
